“Utilizing the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus, extra battery, and a 220-watt solar panel, I will be ice fishing today and enjoying a lunch of chicken, broccoli, and rice, with enough battery life to power a small plug-in heater.”
@Jason Molnar
“The EcoFlow RIVER series is a line of portable power stations designed to provide reliable, off-grid power for various devices, from camping trips to emergency backup. Throughout its journey, the RIVER series has been recognized for its user-friendly design, fast charging times (thanks to EcoFlow's X-Stream technology), and its innovative approach to portable energy storage...EcoFlow changed the way I live.”
@Jeff Peterman
“One of my cats appreciates my RIVER tower.”
@Hector Salgado
“I am in Western NC and we were hit hard by the storm! Glad I got my DELTA Max and DELTA 2 a few months ago. The combination of solar and being able to charge them with a gas generator made all the difference! I had neighbors who were only able to run their gas generators for a day or two. I had no trouble going four days until I got power back.”
@Scott Hana
“I have an EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max battery pack 2kW in addition to two RIVER 2 Pros. I use it for djing outdoor events and camping. Plus it can charge my Tesla. Not very fast. Not very efficient. But it can in an emergency.”

FAQ
Is It Worth Getting a Portable Power Station?
Whether you want to power a canoe trip or a camper or need whole-home backup, there’s an EcoFlow portable power station for you. DELTA Series whole-home generators can power all your high-wattage appliances and systems, like central air conditioning and heating, to keep your house up and running during power cuts and extended outages. By taking advantage of time-of-use rates in your province and generating clean, renewable energy with solar panels, you can significantly cut your electricity bills and receive a solid return on investment, both financially and from peace of mind.
How Do You Charge a Portable Power Station?
The charging options for portable power stations depend on the manufacturer and model. For example, EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 offers seven fast-charging methods, including solar panels, AC (household) wall plugs, Smart Home Panel 2, gas or inverter generators, 500W/800W alternator charging, and EV charging stations. Numerous multi-charging combinations are also available to top up the LiFeP04 battery even quicker with up to 7000W of super-fast charging input.
Are Portable Power Stations Safe?
Lead-acid and SLA (VRLA) deep-cycle batteries require proper installation, ventilation, and routine maintenance to operate safely. Traditional lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are safer and require little maintenance, but are prone to thermal runaway in rare instances, which can result in a fire or explosion. Lithium iron phosphate (LFP/LiFePO4) batteries are safe for indoor use and — because they’re cobalt-free — better for the environment.
Can a Portable Power Station Be Used as a UPS?
Most portable power stations do not offer a true uninterruptible power supply suitable for hard drives (HDDs) and PCs. A UPS must auto-switch in 10 milliseconds (ms) or less during a power outage or brownout to support sensitive electronics like desktop computers and data storage. Most portable power stations switch over in 30ms or more. That’s fast, but not fast enough to safeguard HDD or SSD data and precision devices like desktops, Smart TVs, and gaming consoles. Some EcoFlow portable power stations, like RIVER 3 Plus, meet professional UPS criteria of >10ms auto-switching.
What is the Difference Between Portable Power Stations and Generators?
A portable power station is essentially a high-wattage rechargeable battery system. Depending on the model and manufacturer, it can also generate off-grid electricity. For example, EcoFlow’s RIVER and DELTA Series power stations have multiple charging options, including solar panels. Simply plug and play a compatible mountable or portable solar panel, and your power station becomes an off-grid solar generator. Traditional portable gas and inverter generators require a constant fuel supply, routine maintenance, and outdoor-only use. All generators that burn fossil fuels like diesel or propane emit deadly carbon monoxide, toxic fumes, and are unpleasantly noisy. They must only be operated outdoors at a safe distance from your home.
How Long Can You Run a Portable Power Station?
The length of time you can run a portable power station between charges varies based primarily on electricity consumption and battery storage capacity, typically measured in watt-hours or kilowatt-hours. Watt-hours (Wh/kWh) measure how much power (Watts/Kilowatts) is consumed over time (hours). For example, EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 can provide 4000 watts (4000W/4kW) of continuous AC output and up to 8000W of surge power. Surge power is required to start many high-wattage appliances, especially anything with a motor, like refrigerators and air conditioners. With 4kWh of LFP battery storage capacity, DELTA Pro 3 can supply continuous power of up to 4000W (combined wattage of appliances and devices running simultaneously) for at least an hour. It’s expandable up to 12kWh of storage with Smart Extra batteries or up to a maximum of 36kWh by connecting multiple units in parallel. Keep in mind that if you have a power generation source plugged in, for example, a mountable solar panel, the power station will continue to charge while operating during daylight hours.
What Size Portable Power Station Do I Need?
The best portable power station size for you depends entirely on your use case. If you’re looking for lightweight, compact, off-grid power for outdoor adventures, EcoFlow RIVER Series portable power stations have got you covered. For example, RIVER 3 Plus is ideal for hiking and camping and can double as a UPS backup for your desktop computer and hard drive when you’re not hitting the trails. If you need whole-home backup for extreme weather events and emergency preparedness, EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra provides expandable AC output/battery storage capacity (maximum 21.6kW/90kWh) to power almost any home during blackouts. With up to 16.8kW of solar charge capacity, you can connect enough PV modules to run your home off-grid indefinitely in many parts of Canada.
